The Albert Boxler winery is located in picturesque Alsace, France, and is known for its high-quality, biodynamically grown wines. Founded in the 1990s, the winery places great emphasis on traditional winemaking methods and the care of the vineyards. The outstanding wines, including Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris, are characterized by their purity and complexity. Boxler's wines reflect the terroir of the region and regularly win awards for their quality and character, making the estate a jewel of Alsace.

The Grand Cru Sommerberg is distinguished by its steep, south-facing slopes situated on granite and sandstone-rich soils. These soils provide ideal conditions for growing Riesling, offering excellent drainage and allowing the vines to root deeply, resulting in pronounced minerality in the wine. The unique microclimate of this site promotes slow ripening of the grapes, leading to extraordinary flavor concentration and natural sweetness, which is the hallmark of this late-harvest wine.

The Riesling Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Sommerberg 2020 displays a bright golden-yellow color with brilliant reflections. The wine is full-bodied and complex, with a wonderful balance between sweetness, acidity, and minerality. The rich fruit flavors are complemented by fine spice and subtle minerality, typical of the Sommerberg terroir. This noble sweet Riesling pairs beautifully with foie gras, mature cheese, desserts like Tarte Tatin, or can be enjoyed on its own for special occasions.

The vines for the Riesling Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Sommerberg 2020 are between 40 and 60 years old and deeply rooted in mineral-rich soils. Domaine Albert Boxler manages these vineyards according to organic and sustainable methods to preserve the quality of the grapes and the health of the soil. The grapes are hand-harvested late in the autumn, when they are perfectly concentrated by Botrytis cinerea (noble rot). The wine is traditionally vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit flavors and the precise sweetness.
