In South Styria, there are diverse soil types, with the main ones being slate and limestone. Slate soils retain water and heat, resulting in slow grape ripening and imparting mineral qualities to the wines. Limestone soils are mineral-rich and contribute to the complexity and finesse of the wines. The different soil types give the wines a layered characteristic, making them unique in flavor.
The Sauvignon Blanc from South Styria is an outstanding white wine known for its impressive freshness and intense aromatic diversity. On the nose, it exhibits elegant notes of gooseberry, ripe lemon, and fresh grass. The palate is lively and vibrant with refreshing acidity and a long, fruity finish. This wine pairs perfectly with light dishes, fish, or simply enjoying in good company.
The vineyards of the winery span 10 hectares in South Styria, comprising various grape varieties including Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Morillon (Chardonnay), Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Müller-Thurgau, and Zweigelt. Planted from 1989 to 2012, these vineyards stretch from east to west and contribute to a wide range of quality products, including regional wines, village wines, and single-vineyard wines. Additionally, orchards provide a variety of fruit for juices and spirits.
