In South Styria, there are diverse soil types. The main soils are slate and limestone. Slate soils retain water and heat, which results in slow grape ripening and gives rise to mineral wines. Limestone soils are rich in minerals and contribute to the complexity and finesse of the wines. The different soil types impart a layered characteristic to the wines, making them unique in flavor.
The Morillon from Gallunder Winery's vineyards is an elegant white wine of the highest quality. With aromas of green apples, citrus fruits, and subtle hints of vanilla and butter, this wine offers a true tasting experience. Its dry and full-bodied character is complemented by balanced acidity, emphasizing its freshness. Light oak notes impart additional depth and creaminess to this Morillon.
The vineyards of the winery span 10 hectares in South Styria and encompass various grape varieties including Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Morillon (Chardonnay), Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Müller-Thurgau, and Zweigelt. Planted between 1989 and 2012, these vineyards stretch from east to west and contribute to a wide range of quality products, including regional wines, village wines, and single-vineyard wines. Additionally, orchards provide a variety of fruits for juices and spirits.
